New India's overseas operations have a long tradition, dating back to the inception of the Company itself. In 1920, within one year of the incorporation of the Company, New India opened an office in London in the United Kingdom. Fiji Operations
The New India's presence in Fiji Islands dates back to 1954. The first branch was established in Suva in 1954, in the early days of economic development of the country. The second branch was established in Lautoka in the year 1967 to cater for our clients in western part of Fiji. The Labasa and Nadi branches were established in years 1982 and 1995 respectively.
New India has attained strength by strength serving the Fiji and its people through thick and thin, in their good and bad years meeting their commitment to insuring public with satisfaction in the worst of the Fiji's period of natural disasters caused by frequent cyclones. Saluting the resilient capacity of FIJI after TC Winston,NIA FIJI contributed to almost 40% of the total cycylone claims which local insures received.
New India's strong financial base and people oriented policies has lead it to a successful and largest General Insurance Company in Fiji. The New India Fiji is setting goals and coming up with incentives to broaden and strengthen broker network and customer satisfaction and building new relationships through direct and reinsurance business.
We in Fiji underwrite almost all classes of General Insurance business and acknowledge the fact that our continued prosperity is due to the goodwill and support which we have always received from our clientele.
NIA has the largest branch network in Fiji amongst all general insurers and has its branches at Suva, Nadi, Lautoka and Labasa. NIA is the largest general insurer in Fiji total assets-wise and our assets and solvency surplus are highest in Fiji. NIA is the only general insurer in Fiji who enjoys credit rating by A. M. Best Company of USA.
NIA Fiji has been also fulfilling its corporate social responsibility with spirit of altruism. Classroom donated to Urdu students at St. Andrews school in Nadi is one of the examples. Also in pursuit of sustainable climate change mission of Fiji government, sponsoring green conscious award hosted by FDB bank and extended our patronage in hosting sustainable development conference in Fiji hosted by government of India in May 2017.
